What is TAT?

“TAT® (Tapas Acupressure Technique) is an easy way to attain inner peace, relaxation, more vibrant health and empowerment.  It is a combination of placing your attention on whatever the issue is and touching a few specific acupuncture points on your face and at the back of your head — that’s it!”

From the TATlife website

Sound too good to be true?  Many of us grew up believing that change was difficult, accomplishment came with sacrifice and pain (no pain, no gain!) and that healing takes a long time, if it happens at all. Well, it’s time to step into a new paradigm and consider the possibility that we don’t have to work quite that hard.  TAT helps us “get out of our own way” and allow the natural healing process to unfold.

TAT® (Tapas Acupressure Technique) is a simple, yet powerful, leading-edge energy process that was created in 1993 by Tapas Fleming, a Licensed Acupuncturist in California. It has been used by tens of thousands of people throughout the world, sometimes with large numbers (hundreds) of people doing TAT® together to release the traumatic stress they’ve suffered as a result of massive earthquakes and other natural or man-made disasters.

What can TAT be Used For?
It’s hard to imagine a time when TATwouldn’t be useful, though as with other self-help methods, it’s a good idea to consult with your health care provider and/or counselor if you have concerns. TAT is not intended to replace appropriate medical or psychological care.  TATcan easily and gently help you:

  1. Release feelings of fear, stress and worry
  2. Eliminate allergic reactions
  3. Heal troubling memories and painful emotions
  4. Transform negative or limiting thoughts and beliefs
  5. Heal emotional aspects of physical conditions/illness
  6. Shed excess pounds and maintain a healthy weight

Self-Help or Work with a Professional?
TATis great as a self-help method I and I highly recommend people establish a regular routine of using TAT for themselves. It’s also great to have the added support of someone experienced with the method, especially when working with things that feel challenging. There is also something special about having someone to share the process with and to witness your transformation! Bodymind Journey offers several ways you can learn and experience TAT® one-on-one or in groups.

What is the Process?
The TATprocess involves focusing your attention while holding specific acupressure points on the face with one hand and cradling the back of your head with the other.  As you go through the Steps of TAT(9 basic steps), you don’t have to DO anything….the pose and the words have a way of putting you in a place where things just naturally unfold and shift. Just sitting in the pose itself can bring feelings of relaxation.

What Can I expect?
At the very least, you probably will feel relaxed and calm after using TAT. Some things are measurable on the spot. For example, if you are working on a specific memory that has a lot of emotion connected with it, you will most likely feel a big difference….the painful emotion dissolves and you feel at peace with the memory. If you are working on a belief or pattern, though you may feel better, different, lighter, you will only know what has changed as you move through your life. TAT can often start a beautiful unfolding process where you feel more connected with yourself and see more clearly your amazing potential for transformation and happiness.
